The art of healing / Tattoo aftercare
Your artwork.
Your aftercare.
Your tattoo doesn't stop being important when you leave the chair. Give it the attention it deserves.
Follow your artist's instructions.
Ask when and how to remove your covering. Specialized adhesive wraps can have different instructions than standard bandages.
Keep your hands and tattoo clean.
Wash your hands before touching the area. When your artist tells you to clean the tattoo, use a gentle approach and the cleansing product they recommend.
Dry gently and let it breathe.
Use a clean paper towel to pat dry rather than rubbing. Avoid abrasive fabrics and unnecessary friction.
Use a light aftercare layer.
Use only the aftercare products and frequency recommended by your artist. Applying heavy layers can irritate healing skin.
Let the healing happen.
Avoid picking or scratching peeling skin. Protect your new tattoo from prolonged soaking, excessive sun and unnecessary contact while healing.
Reach out when unsure.
Contact the studio if you have questions about the tattoo. Seek medical care promptly for concerning signs such as spreading redness, worsening pain, fever or pus.
